This work is a model of the Bronze sculpture of General Ulisses Grant, 18th President of the United States of America between 1868 and 1872. This monument was commissioned by the Portuguese Government to Manuel Pereira da Silva for the capital of Guinea-Bissau in 1955. this famous statesman who openly defended the possession of Guinea for Portugal. In memory of someone who, being great, knew how to generously advocate a just cause, the Portuguese Government commissioned Manuel Pereira da Silva to create the respective statue of Ulysses Grant, winner of the public tender launched for this purpose, by the Ministry of Overseas, erected in front of the building of the Town Hall of Bolama, in Guinea-Bissau.
